Laser approach

Laser therapy has been the go-to solution for skin pigmentation issues for years. By targeting the melanin in the skin, lasers can reduce and even out discolouration, resulting in a smoother complexion. Thanks to advancements in technology, lasers have become increasingly efficient over time. Modern lasers can now target pigmentation in deeper layers of the skin with precision without causing any irritation or damage to the surface.

One notable advancement is the use of laser technology to target pigment beneath the skin's surface. This means that issues like age spots and sun damage can be effectively treated without discomfort or adverse effects. The latest lasers combine optical energy to tackle stubborn pigmentation with short pulses (short heating time). This innovative approach allows quicker and more effective treatment, providing patients with excellent results like never before.

Our advanced technology

Our cutting-edge technology, DuettoMT, represents a groundbreaking advancement in the field. By generating an intense photothermal impact in two milliseconds of a second, this advanced system minimises thermal damage to the skin while effectively targeting the melanin for faster and more efficient clearance in fewer treatment sessions.

Key features:

  • Precise targeting: DuettoMT optimally targets melanin to address a wide range of pigmentary conditions, leaving surrounding tissue untouched.

  • Minimal thermal damage: With its short pulse duration (short heating time), DuettoMT incurs minimal thermal damage, ensuring a comfortable experience.

  • Customisable treatments: Offering customisable treatment options with spot sizes ranging from 2 to 5mm, DuettoMT precisely targets the size of pigmentation for optimal results.

Utilising Alexandrite laser technology activated by melanin, DuettoMT effectively addresses skin pigmentation by delivering very short laser pulses, each lasting only two milliseconds of a second. This innovative procedure targets only melanocytes, heating them up and breaking them apart, paving the way for skin regeneration.

It is highly effective in treating pigmentations on various areas of the body, including the face, chest, back, hands, and legs. With its comfortable and non-invasive approach, DuettoMT delivers impressive and safe results.

Pigmentation we can treat

Skin pigmentation can manifest in various forms, including lesions, sun spots/age spots, freckles, ephelides, and cafe au-lait spots. The good news is that these can be effectively treated using our DuettoMT medical-grade laser Class 4 machine.

It is advisable to consult a dermatologist first for hormonally-triggered pigmentation such as melasma/chloasma. During a consultation, a dermatologist will carefully assess the affected area, taking into account your medical history and lifestyle factors that may contribute to the excess pigmentation. To accurately identify the type and depth of pigmentation, a handheld microscope, known as a derma scope or dermatoscope, will be utilised. This information is crucial for recommending the most suitable treatment options for this type of pigmentation before you undergo laser pigmentation treatment.

Is alexandrite laser safe?

Considering the stubborn nature of skin pigmentation, light-based procedures are recommended for safe, reliable and convenient treatment. Depending upon factors such as extent, depth, age, gender, and causes of pigmentation, non-ablative short pulse lasers are most commonly used in pigmentation treatment. The FDA and CE have cleared the Alexandrite Laser to safely treat a number of issues related to skin tone and pigmentation. The Alexandrite Laser has an excellent safety profile. Like any surgical or non-surgical procedure, there are risks. As an aesthetic practitioner specialising in laser procedures,  I must say finding an experienced practitioner who understands skin types and the finer points of laser treatment is very important.

Skin types classified as 4-6 on the Fitzpatrick skin scale, which typically represents medium to dark skin tones, pose challenges for pigmentation treatment. It's important to note that Alexandrite lasers should never be utilised on individuals with darker skin types. Due to the rapid absorption of this laser into melanin, there is a risk of causing damage to darker skin tones. To categorise skin types accurately, we rely on the Fitzpatrick skin scale, which provides a standardised method for determining skin type.
